This position is in the Office of the Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS) and is assigned to the Inpatient Care Services. This position reports to the Chief Nurse, Inpatient Services and has duties and responsibilities for providing administrative and clerical support for all functions of Inpatient Services. This position is located at the Kansas City VA Medical Center in Kansas City, MO
Duties

Major Duties:
Acts as liaison to other managers and staff within the organization, to include the Nursing Service as well as other departments/offices within the KCVA
Performs a variety of reception duties for the service including answering verbal, faxed and telephonic inquiries, receiving and delivering messages, as well as relaying information and instructions from the service leadership staff to employees
Provides administrative support for the Nurse Professional Standards Board (NPSB), requesting/preparing Boards for registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistants (NAs)
Utilizes computer word processing to prepare agendas, transcribes, and distributes minutes from various meetings
Attends and serves as recorder, prepares minutes and distributes
Maintains tracking logs for board actions and coordinates routing of board actions for appropriate signatures across the entire health care system.
Transcribes and/or types proficiency reports, performance evaluations and appraisals, personnel actions, letters, reports of meetings and memoranda for Nursing Service
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: Possess one year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes performing clerical duties, typing; answering and directing phone calls; functions as a timekeeper responsible for accurate timekeeping, provides logistical support for meetings, work group or special project teams, special events and educational offerings; maintains tracking logs for nursing professional standard board actions; utilizes various software applications; utilizes computer word processing to prepare agendas, transcribes, and distributes minutes from various meetings; provides logistical support for meetings, and maintains confidentiality and sensitive documents. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.
OR
EDUCATION: Possess a bachelor's degree or four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Transcripts required.

COMBINATION AND EDUCATION: Possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education, as described above, that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. For the GS-05, only education beyond the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. Your experience must be detailed, and transcripts required.
