WHAT IS THE CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER DIVISION?

Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas:
The Chief Financial Officer, Deputy CFO, Senior ACFO Financial Management, ACFO Revenue Financial Accounting, Revenue Accounting Operations, Campus Accounting Department 1, Cincinnati RRACS Unit.
The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.
Reviews accounting data and documents for accuracy, out of balance conditions, and to identify and resolve a wide range of discrepancies. Identifies all error conditions and conducts extensive research before taking corrective action.
Classifies transactions; maintains balances and reconciles accounts; and prepares trial and final balances or schedules reflecting the status of accounts.
Reconciles General Ledger and subsidiary records, balances accounts and account data, initiates appropriate collection action, and makes necessary adjustments.
Initiates contact with other Federal agencies, financial institutions, private vendors or taxpayers to obtain or give information and resolve discrepancies. Assists employees in locating missing taxpayer accounts or payments.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-5 Level: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience with accounting procedures and techniques to classify accounting transactions, maintain and reconcile accounts; Experience with automated and manual processing procedures, existing accounting systems, standard accounting codes, classifications, terminology and relationships to process a limited range of work. Your experience should involve recognizing transactions, codes, forms, or adjustment entries and selecting and applying the appropriate procedure to specific transactions.
OR
Bachelor's degree or four years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited college or university.
OR
A combination or education and specialized experience equivalent to one year of specialized experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-6 Level: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience with accounting procedures, techniques, terminology, and regulations to identify erroneous journal entries and perform extensive research to resolve account discrepancies and errors; Experience with automated accounting control system and manual procedures, extensive account structures and systems, the full range of accounting code classifications, subdivisions, associated codes, and documents to process extremely varied transaction. Experience should involve recognizing various standard transactions, codes or entries and selecting and applying the appropriate procedures to a specific transaction.
AND
MEET TIME IN GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT: Under merit promotion procedures, Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. Time is credited based on calendar time served in a grade, regardless of the number of days or hours worked. If you currently hold or have previously held a position at the same (or equivalent) or higher grade/level in the Federal government as of this announcement, you will meet the TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS.

TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: By the closing date (or if this is an open continuous announcement, by the cut-off date) specified in this job announcement, current civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since their latest non-temporary appointment from a competitive referral certificate, known as time after competitive appointment. Education
A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience.
