The Housekeeping Aid Supervisor position is organizationally located within Environmental Management Service (EMS). Major functions include: supervision of housekeeping, housekeeping sanitation program, inventory and storage of supplies, special
cleaning (carpet extraction, floor refinishing, etc.), waste management & recycling, furniture moving and project work, emergency bed-making (discharge), and providing set-up for conferences or events.
Duties
Supervisor will perform duties through daily consultation with the Chief of EMS, or designee, and demonstrate comprehension of all housekeeping functions and responsibilities with distinguishing levels of difficulty.
Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures.
Performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
Motivates subordinates to operate an effective working unit, selecting the individual workers and assigning the particular tasks to be performed.
Makes daily evaluation/observation of performance for all housekeeping aids under his/her supervision as required, providing written documentation to support official commendations or disciplinary actions.
Completes environmental aspect/impact analysis, developing and implementing environmental policies, procedures and for improving environmental performance within areas of responsibility.
Ensures strict adherence to federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and the environment as applicable within the performance of his/her duties.
Considers environmentally preferable and recycled products in all purchasing decisions.
Handles informal complaints from employees concerning any decisions affecting work.
Collaborates with the Chief of EMS, or designee, conducts studies concerning workflow, design, product improvement, development
of new tools/equipment, station functions and staffing requirements.
Conducts new employee orientation and all required service specific training.
Coordinates work efforts and sanitation responsibilities with all departments within the health care system.
Establishes deadlines, estimates time, material and manpower for each assignment or project.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to do any necessary bending, lifting, walking, climbing and other strenuous physical movements required by a housekeeping supervisor. A portion of the supervisor`s work is performed in an office environment, however you may be required to fill in or complete all regular housekeeping duties. He/she may be exposed to hazardous waste, general waste, dust, dirt, spills and noise in the performance of duties.
