Duties
The Deputy Administrative Officer participates fully in directing and managing the overall administrative support program for the United States Attorney's Office. Typical work assignments will include:
Serves as a Deputy Chief of the Administrative Division and, with the Administrative Officer (AO), participates fully as a senior administrative advisor to the United States Attorney for planning and managing all United States Attorney's Office (USAO) resources.
Assists the Administrative Officer in managing, through two or more subordinate supervisors, a subordinate staff of administrative, technical, and clerical staff organized in two or more organizational units.
Actively participates with District management in the formulation and implementation of district-wide policies and procedures pertaining to management and general office administration.
Advises senior management staff on options to define and maximize overall effectiveness of administrative programs.
Assists the Administrative Officer in analyzing organizational and work design proposals recommended by subordinate supervisors.
With the Administrative Officer, participates fully in the overall planning and management of a comprehensive administrative services and support program, with primary responsibility for two or more of the following major management services categories: budget administration and financial management, personnel management and administration, security, information systems, space and facilities management, support services and property management, contracting and procurement, and all related internal controls.

- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
GS:14 - To be eligible at the GS-14 level, you must have at least ONE year of Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in Federal Service.
Specialized experience must have provided the applicant with the ability to support senior management of an organization through independently planning, analyzing, managing, evaluating, and exercising delegated authorities (e.g. signature/approval authority) for one or more of the following administrative programs through subordinate staff: financial management, human resources, information technology, and/or contracting/acquisitions.
Examples of qualifying experience include:
Supervising a Financial Management program that includes budget, accounting, or auditing operations.
Supervising a Human Resources (HR) program that delivers the full range of HR services (e.g., staffing, classification, employee benefits, pay administration, performance management),
Supervising an Information Technology (IT) program that delivers systems management and administration, customer/user support, and application of new technology
Supervising an acquisitions or contracting function
Supervising an administrative support function that provides a combination of administrative or related services to an organization comparable to the level described above.
