Duties
You will serve as a personal assistant for an employee with a targeted disability.
You will ensure the personal needs of the employee are met during duty-hours, official travel and employer-sponsored events.
You will perform services pertaining to the employee's daily living, including eating, toileting, putting on/removing clothing, maneuvering, orienting, reaching and grabbing items out of reach, traveling and other related needs.
You will provide a variety of services to the employee involving support in work-related duties, such as reading and note taking.
You will assist in the organizing and maintenance of files and manuals, photocopying and help with other duties requiring physical demands according to the limitations of the employee.
You will assist in emergency type situations (fire drills, illness, building evacuation, etc.).
You will perform related duties such as accompanying the employee to meetings, conferences and training sessions if required by the employee.
You will, where necessary, accompany the employee in official travel in order to facilitate performance of his/her job.
You will create a variety of documents, maintain supplies and services, schedule business travel, prepare reports or maintain files.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NG-1 pay band (GS-4 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing personal assistance services to employees who need them because of a targeted disability. Examples of qualifying experience may include (1) knowledge of applicable fire and safety regulations for the work area in order to aid the employee with targeted disabilities in case of emergency; (2) knowledge of basic office equipment, e.g., photocopier, personal computer, phone, calculator, etc., to assist employee; (3) skill to develop and maintain personal one-on-one relationships with tact and courtesy to provide personal assistance to employee with targeted disabilities; (4) skill in written and oral communication to effectively provide personal assistance services for the individual and in support of the organization.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:
- Successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in any field of study; OR
- A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
