About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, located at Andersen Air Force Base, Directorate of Behavioral Health, Mental Health, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.

Duties
Independently provides social work services in the form of casework with individuals, couples, or families. Acts as therapist in support groups for patients.
Coordinates and manages continued care in dispersed locations, including remote regions of the United States and in foreign countries, where health care resources may be scarce or unavailable.
Conducts psychosocial evaluations of inpatients and outpatients, assisting in the development of multidisciplinary treatment plans with specific emphasis on complex cases that focus on high risk individuals.
Provides individual psychotherapy and family therapy as indicated under the direction of the Service Chief, Social Work Department, or his/her designee.
Incumbent provides brief strategic and medical crisis counseling for patients and families in coordination with the primary medical team and adjunct consulting services.
Coordinates and implements discharge plans by arranging for transition to the next level of medical care in compliance with the multidisciplinary treatment plan.
Requirements
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is, therefore, subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- The incumbent may be required to work on any day or shift; including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
- Employees assigned to this position may be designated as Mission Essential and assume Essential Personnel status during inclement/weather/emergencies.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.

Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes conducting psychosocial evaluations, providing individual or group therapy, and developing behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
