The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an assistant student registrar and administrative technician for the USAF Weapon School. The purpose of the Registrar's office is to supervise, direct, manage, coordinate, and provide oversight for all USAF Weapons School student support activities from pre-selection to post-graduation for two WS (cont'd under Duties)
Duties
(cont'd from Summary) classes per year. Assists higher graded specialists in the application of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques of formal training issues by reviewing and evaluating data; developing recommendations relative to managing student quotas and the development and execution of future and current student quota allocation plans. Performs repetitive work related to in-processing and updating student course status for bi-annual Weapons Instructor Course classes.
Duties:
Serves as a United States Air Force Weapons School (USAFWS) Assistant Student Registrar.
Plans, coordinates, and schedules unprogrammed events. Coordinates arrangements with Nellis AFB support agencies in preparation for student arrival and departure.
Represents the section with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Uses varied and advanced functions of office automation software to create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of documents and support office operations.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: 1) knowledge of an extensive body of rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and academic training programs to perform a wide variety of standard assignments involved in the development of academic training schedules for student classes which meet syllabus objectives; 2) knowledge of the organization's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources and use basic analytical methods and techniques to determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in the scheduling function; 3) knowledge of the USAF Weapon School mission and objectives to perform assignments and resolve conventional issues using accepted practices; 4) knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data, and maintain accurate files; 5) ability to use a variety of computer programs/software to enter, maintain, sort, retrieve information, and produce a variety of standardized documents.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of academic training programs to perform standard assignments in the academic scheduling function.
2. Knowledge of the organization's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources to determine quality, accuracy, and applicability.
3. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data, and maintain accurate files; a qualified typist is not required.
4. Skill in applying basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve minor conflicts and determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in the program.
5. Ability to use one or more established computer programs/software (Microsoft Office) to enter, maintain, sort, and retrieve organizational and/or program data.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
