The Administrative Support Assistant position serves in the Imaging/Radiology Service, George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center, Salt Lake City Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, Salt Lake City, Utah. Radiology Service is composed of 6 modalities within VAMC and its Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) including Diagnostic Radiology (X-Ray), Ultrasound, Computerized Tomography (CT), Interventional Radiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Nuclear Medicine.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Digital Imaging Support: Provides support in preparing reports and makes recommendations on radiology community care orders being sent into the community that could possibly be conducted at the George E. Wahlen VAMC. Helps to support a broad range of policies, issues, regulations, and problems on radiology care in the community. Performs duties related to the receipt, scanning, downloading, importing of Images on PACS system and quality reviews for Images for VA patients seen through Care in the Community (CITC) as well as onsite and off-site transfer facilities providing continuity of care for radiology image access through the VA and outside medical facilities. Monitors images on Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) to insure they are correctly uploaded. Tracks and coordinates with CITC and other Ancillary services on consults pertaining to outside imaging studies. Interacts with physicians requesting images urgently and will be explaining the process to physicians on how to put in a request to push images for a patient transfer or consult import request via CD or Medicom as well as the timelines to expect results within. Administration: Maintains and is actively involved in preparations, readiness, presentations, and action planning for The Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General, and various outside accrediting bodies. Monitors, tracks, oversees, and works with the Radiology MSA Team (Supervisory MSA, Lead MSA and Advanced MSAs). Logs, tracks, monitors and follows each order through completion and present workload analysis to the Administrative Officer and Chief of Radiology. Runs reports, monitors stats and reporting data to the Administrative Officer for Radiology and the Chief of Radiology. Complies and submits various reports on a recurring basis. Fulfills requests to retrieve images into the Radiology Package from other VISN facilities. Documents all activity in CPRS, reviews the consult notes in CPRS notes for timeliness and closure. Performs other duties as assigned. Specialized EXPERIENCE GS-7: Applicants must have one (1) year or more of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal Service? Specialized experience is defined as experience that has provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience includes having an extensive thorough knowledge of the facility mission, functions, goals and objectives; knowledge of management analysis principles and concepts, organizational structure and individual program responsibilities; and relationships with agency organizations in order to conduct studies and evaluations regarding facility operations and activities; understanding of administrative concepts, principles and practices sufficient to identify problems and perform studies designed to evaluate procedures/processes; develops and recommends ways to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and timeliness of work operations; capable of troubleshooting technical and administrative problems that arise in programs and resolve by developing acceptable administrative procedures and/or proposing alternative resolution. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Attention to DetailCommunicationsData ManagementTechnical Competence IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
