Performs a variety of duties in support of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Community Recreation program that may include special events, recreation information/resources, command events, visiting ships or fleet support, community events, trips, tours, outings, party and picnic rental equipment, resale tickets, recreational green space management, bowling, Library, Liberty, grab-n-go, movies, and outdoor recreation.
Requirements
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, without a fixed schedule. Administrative work is performed in a normal office setting.
- Irregular working hours may be required to include early shift, late shift, evenings, weekends and holidays when the need arises.
- May have to obtain and maintain the following certification within 90 days of hire: Emergency First Responder or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Food Handlers and/or C.A.R.E (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively).
- Wearing of protective clothing and equipment may be required as situations warrant.
Qualifications
1. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED OF THE POSITION
Must have experience fitting and drilling bowling balls.
Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience in bowling pro shop operations.
Ability to maintain records and reports. Knowledge of inventory procedures.
Cash Handling experience.
Knowledge of machinery and equipment used in repairing bowling balls and accessories.
Ability to use handtools such as; hammers, wrenches, files, etc.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to deal effectively with others.
2. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
Works under the direct supervision of a designated supervisor. Operates independently with supervisory assistance available when unusual situations arise. Work is reviewed for conformance to expectations or standards, satisfaction of customers, and efficiency of the operation.
3. GUIDELINES
Established MWR Standard Operating Procedures and Navy directives are followed. Some judgement is used in making minor deviations and adaptation to meet needs of customer.
4. COMPLEXITY
The work includes various duties involving related processes, steps, methods and procedures concerning activities involved in recreation programs. The incumbent must be knowledgeable with the rules and use of the materials and related equipment.
5. SCOPE AND EFFECT
The position impacts the efficiency and effectiveness of the bowling program.
6. PERSONAL CONTACT
Works closely with customers, staff, fire and safety personnel, command officials, and vendors.
7. PURPOSE OF CONTACTS
The purpose of contacts is to promote the program, comply with policies or directives, provide and exchange information, insure program meets the needs of the customer and to assess the interest of participants.
8. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires standing, walking, bending, carrying, and lifting items that weigh up to 40 pounds, occasionally required to lift heavier items requiring use of hand truck/dollies or assistance from assigned personnel.
9. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
Education
A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
