About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency located at Tripler Army Medical Center, Directorate of Resource Management, Logistics Environmental Services, Honolulu Hawaii. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.

Duties

Assists the Supervisor, Environmental Protection Specialist of Environmental Services Branch for the Logistics Division with implementing environmental programs at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC). Incumbent will be required to attend meetings and perform decisions governing environmental operations to assure regulatory compliance. Develops and proposes revisions to policies and procedures for environmental programs at TAMC. Incumbent will prepare and submit reports when requested. Serves as and operates the day-to-day operation of the 90-day Transfer and Accumulation Point(TAP) as Primary Facility Manager. Monitors hazardous material/waste, solid waste, and regulated medical waste disposal programs.

  • Annual requirement - Must be able to obtain a 40-hours HAZPOWER; HAZARDOURS WASTE OPERATION IN EMERGENCYRESPONSE TRANSPORTATION OF RMW AND HW CERTIFICATIONS at the government's expense to include all necessary annual updates.
  • Position requires screening for required immunizations and for evidence of tuberculosis.
  • This position requires lifting up to 40 lbs.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Environmental Engineering, Hazardous Waste Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
