This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of Safety and Code Compliance, Building Official Division. The ideal candidate will serve as an Engineering Technician (Building Code Plan Reviewer and Inspector) and would be responsible for reviewing design and construction documentation, performing field inspections of mechanical, electrical, civil, and plumbing systems, training personnel and other activities associated with ensuring building code compliance.

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of Safety and Code Compliance, Building Official Division.

Qualifications

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. Additional information on the qualification requirements is outlined in the OPM Qualifications Standards Handbook of General Schedule Positions. It is available for your review on the OPM web site at OPM qualification standards Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.  For the GS-11: Candidates for the GS-11 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service.  Candidates must meet the specialized experience criteria listed below in order to be referred for consideration. Specialized experience for this position must demonstrate at least 3 of the following: (1) Conducting inspection of construction projects to ensure proper quality of work and compliance with contract specifications and requirements; (2) Overseeing and monitoring the execution of new construction, renovations, infrastructure improvements, and/or building upgrade activities; (3) Assisting the Contracting Officer and/or Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) with contract administration such as statements of work, performance standards, and evaluation functions; and (4) Working with on-site and off-site engineers, architects, contractors, and craft workers on construction or design issues and recommending improvements. For the GS-12: Candidates for the GS-12 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Candidate must meet the specialized experience criteria listed below in order to be referred for consideration.
