This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Chicago Field Division
This position(s) primary purpose is to support and assistance to an assigned DEA Domestic Field Division's community outreach and prevention support activities, including program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of community events.

As a Community Outreach Specialistyour typical work assignments may include:
Provides advice and guidance about community outreach and prevention programs to the Division's management and staff.
Manages the Division's DEA Citizens Academy program.
Develops budget requirements for the Divisions community outreach and prevention program.
Submits monthly reports of community outreach and prevention activities' process and outcome metrics to the Division's management and DEA Headquarters' elements.
Writes speeches for community outreach events.
Requirements

Qualifications
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent,
FOR GS 12:
one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service (or equivalent) performing the following duties: 1) maintaining interpersonal relationships with a variety of specialized groups, governmental entities, and the general public to support communities and assist with drug prevention efforts; 2) disseminating drug prevention education information to groups and service providers through a variety of communication channels; 3) developing drug prevention informational materials such as fact sheets, brochures, and articles for publication in printed media and as handouts in meetings and briefings; and 4) arranging and conducting special events, workshops, seminars, and meetings.
FOR GS 13:
one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service (or equivalent) performing the following duties: 1) liaising with drug prevention organizations and community partners such as schools, law enforcement agencies, health service organizations, and other appropriate entities; 2) developing, executing and evaluating the effectiveness of drug prevention education and outreach initiatives; 3) planning, developing and disseminating drug prevention information to stakeholders using a full range of media and communication methods; and 4) initiating, developing, and conducting special events, workshops, seminars, and other meetings with various organizations and agencies to educate, inform, and stimulate participation in drug prevention program activities.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience for this position includes:
