The incumbent will install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, upgrade, repair and calibrate a variety of complex utility systems that require advanced skills in various utility related trades such as electronic industrial controls maintenance, electrical maintenance, pipefitting, air conditioning equipment maintenance, heating and boiler plant equipment maintenance and operation, wastewater treatment, water treatment, air conditioning equipment operation and engineering equipment operation.
Duties
The major duties of the Utility Systems Repairer-Operator include, but are not limited to the following:
Troubleshoot, repair, modify, overhaul, test, calibrate and install water and plumbing components.
Troubleshoot, repair, test overhaul, modify, calibrate and install a variety of electrical components.
Works on alternating current (AC) electrical systems and circuits. Requires technical knowledge of motors, controls and testing tools.
Work on the installation and repair of different types of plumbing piping which include ductile iron, copper, PVC and CPVC.
Apply the best basic health, sanitary and mechanical principles and practices to water and wastewater systems.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of a Utility Systems Repairer Operator without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT)
Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.
Technical Practices
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications and or blue prints
Ability to use, maintain tools and equipment
Knowledge of Materials
Use of Measuring Instruments
