Duties

This position performs independent duties in carrying out prescribed security support processes and general security duties in support of the Lower Colorado Dams Office (Hoover Dam), Security Response Force, whose purpose is the protection and physical security of employees. Duties performed at the full performance level GS-07 include: Supports access control measures by taking fingerprints and operating Area Office identification camera equipment, issuing access cards, and keys. Provides support to the communications center and dispatchers, assisting with incoming telephone calls and radio communications. Sends and receives messages and documents, maintains appointment calendars, schedules meetings, and prepares correspondence, memoranda, reports, and a variety of other miscellaneous material. Responsible for maintaining records, issuing weapons, and ensuring chain of custody, checking for adequate storage and security of the weapons, and submitting deficiencies on work orders, inventories, close security documents and reports of survey. Compiles and maintains statistical information on all offenses, incidents, vehicle accidents, and lost/found property.

To be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume. To qualify at the GS-06, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in federal service such as demonstrated experience in at least 3 of the following areas: 1) reviewing and drafting written materials, 2) using a variety of automated data bases to generate and distribute critical security information , 3) maintaining records and inventory accountability, 4) monitoring and coordinating controlled entry and access to secure areas, 5) interpreting physical security regulations; monitoring alarm/security systems for government and/or commercial facilities; 6) dispatching emergency personnel to security alarm incidents. To qualify at the GS-07, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-06 level in federal service such as demonstrated experience in at least 4 of the following areas: 1) reviewing and drafting written materials, 2) using a variety of automated data bases to generate and distribute critical security information , 3) maintaining records and inventory accountability, 4) monitoring and coordinating controlled entry and access to secure areas, 5) interpreting physical security regulations; monitoring alarm/security systems for government and/or commercial facilities; 6) dispatching emergency personnel to security alarm incidents. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Applicants eligible under the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) are not required to meet time-in-grade restrictions in order to be considered. You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 07/24/2023.
