About the Position: Serves as the District's Deployment and Family Readiness Coordinator. Oversees all aspects of the deployment process, to include, readiness but not limited to, training, acquisition of passports, medical evaluations, inoculations, records, clearances, and visas.

Duties

GS-07: Assists senior specialist in advising District Emergency Manager on emergency readiness of agency. GS-07: Utilize emergency systems, plans and records for the organization. GS-07: Knowledge of Management tools and al hazard planning processes GS-07: Assists specific projects or assigned emergency operation with multi-disciplined teams. GS-07, GS-09: Provide information and recommendations to district, division, and leadership. GS-07, GS-09: Interacts with internal stakeholders to collect current data. GS-09: Assist District Emergency Manager regarding emergency readiness of District. GS-09: Organized, update emergency system for the organization. GS-09: Plan, record and maintain emergency system information in an ongoing state of readiness for access during normal conditions and during emergency situations. GS-09: Creates and distributes reports on behalf of District Operations (S-3). GS-09: Utilizes knowledge Management system. GS-09, GS-11: Understands and has worked with All-Hazards Planning process. GS-09, GS-11: Represents agency with internal personnel and higher headquarters elements. GS-11: Advisor to the District Emergency Management regarding emergency readiness of District. GS-11: Develop emergency systems, plans and records for the organization. GS-11: Develop Knowledge Management tolls or systems. GS-11: Coordinate specific projects or assigned emergency operations with multi-disciplined teams. GS-07, GS-09, GS-11: Interact with internal stakeholder to collect current date or implement actions or plan changes for the organiza GS-07, GS-09, GS-11: Maintain emergency plans and records information in an ongoing state of readiness for access during normal conditions and during emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Required to travel 20% of the time.
  • Required to obtain and maintain a valid, State-issued Motor Vehicle Driver?s License.
  • Required to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
  • Travel during natural disasters may be subject to hazards.
  • The employee is required to remain assessable during duty and non-duty hours by electronic device 24/7 to respond to emergency management operations activities.

  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

OR Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:(1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR(2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR(3) Honor Society Membership - Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Emergency Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting all of the following (1) supporting emergency management programs; (2) working independently to maintain emergency preparedness or participate in emergency response; and (3) coordinating training requirements and/or resources for emergency personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Emergency Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
