ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) serves as the world leader in providing timely, relevant, accurate and actionable geospatial intelligence (GEOINT). The Office of Geography (SFG) provides integrated geographic data, products, and services with a focus on high priority regions of the world in support of the Warfighter and the national security objectives of the U.S. Government. SFG civilian, military and contract personnel create and evaluate multiple layers of foundation data, human geographic data, maps and/or charts, using imagery and specifications to ensure our customers have the information necessary to support operations and planning. NGA uses a flexible, high mobility career model. Individuals are hired for their overall skills within a specialty such as Data Steward, and then are vetted through a clearance process and finally placed when a fitting position becomes open. Aspects of the job such as travel, supervisory, telework, etc. may change, depending on specific positions available at the time.Duties:1. Apply fundamental knowledge of GEOINT to support national security goals and issues2. Assist with creation and evaluation of foundation data to meet program requirements3. MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Online resumes must demonstrate qualification by providing specific examples and associated results, in response to the announcement's mandatory criteria specified in this vacancy announcement: 1. Demonstrated experience documenting, testing and/or maintaining data within databases for quality assurance.2. Demonstrated experience analyzing data, identifying inconsistencies, and/or cleaning data to a recognized standard.3. Demonstrated experience with designing, implementing, and/or managing databases. 4. Demonstrated experience developing data set processes for data discovery, modeling, mining, and/or production. 5. Experience collaborating with others, such as peers, customers, management, and/or external stakeholders.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Systems, Data Management, Data Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Cartography, Geospatial Sciences, Physical Sciences, or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics, plus experience that involves management of data within databases, or in a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience that involves management of databases or in a related field that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Distinguish principal colors and shades/hues of principal colors; Near visual acuity of 20/60 or better with or without corrective lensesDESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Experience completing geospatial projects using GIS and cartographic principles, tools, analysis and/or data management. Examples include feature extraction, managing metadata specifications, and analysis of spatial data.2. Experience with one or more computing languages and/or tools e.g., scripting languages.3. Demonstrated experience working with different types of data storage/database technologies such as structured or unstructured.4. Demonstrated experience communicating data findings, analyses, or terms to a non-technical audience. 5. Demonstrated experience with identifying, defining, and promoting the standards for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) processes to the partners.
