You will serve as an Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment Mechanic of NAS OCEANA.
Duties
You will conduct repetitive tests of aircraft launching and arresting device systems equipment to determine operational condition.
You will determine sequence of operations for the rework, repair, modification, or minor new construction of mechanical and industrial equipment.
You will use mechanical equipment (e.g., cables, winches, ratchet gears) to perform repairs and maintenance on emergency arresting gear.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- Must maintain a valid State Class A and valid airfield operators license.
- Must become 3-M qualified within 90 days of hire.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Performing any corrective and scheduled maintenance required to maintain the arresting gear and optical landing aids in an operational status; 2). Interpreting basic electricity and/or the ability to trace wiring to complete projects; 4) Making repairs on emergency arresting gear and/or assigned Optical Landing Aid Systems; 5) Possessing the verbal ability to communicate via radio with Air Traffic Control Tower for movement of manpower and/or equipment onto and across active runways and other aircraft movement areas in accordance with governing directives
