THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for an Aircraft Engine Mechanic Supervisor, Position Description Number D1634000 and is part of the 116th Maintenance Squadron, Georgia Air National Guard located at Robins AFB, Georgia This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Air National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Current on-board Title 32 Technicians within the Georgia Air National Guard.

Duties

As an Aircraft Engine Mechanic Supervisor, WS-8602-10, you will: Plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establish deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determine skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participate in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provide workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as the scheduling of projected work. Assign tasks to be performed. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instruct subordinates on new procedures or methods and provide assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Review work in progress or on completion. Make adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Note and investigate work related problems and independently implement corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors. Assure that equipment and materiel is available when needed. Coordinate work with other work units. Recommend and participate in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Schedule and approve leave of subordinates. Set performance requirements and make formal and informal performance appraisals. Determine training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Counsel with employees regarding work related problems. Adjust informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives. Take informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems. Initiate proposals for disciplinary action where needed. Work to achieve the objectives of government-wide programs and policies, e.g., equal employment opportunity and labor management relations. Promote the participation of subordinates in programs such as the suggestion program, cost reduction program, etc. Ensure that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed. Maintain production reports and records. Periodically review position descriptions of subordinates for currency and accuracy. Initiate or participate in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and the structuring of positions to eliminate unnecessary positions and achieve optimum content in those remaining. Perform the non-supervisory work of the Propulsion Element. Implement safety regulatory requirements. Ensure that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, and/or serve as a team member to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E7(P) - E8 Compatible Military Assignments: 2A671 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Candidate must possess experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements; and experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Candidate must have 36 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel; experience which requires the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; experience that provides knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function; experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes; and experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. PHYSICAL EFFORT: The incumbent is required to climb, stoop, stand, bend, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Incumbent lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds, and may be required to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance from other workers or weight handling equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work assignments are performed indoors and outdoors in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature extremes. The incumbent is subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces (landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps), engine noise, heat blast, intake suction, rotating propellers, explosive munitions, electrical voltage, cartridge actuating devices, liquid oxygen, fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents.
