About the Position: This position is located at the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Supply and Services Division, in Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Duties

Plans work assignments based on availability of manpower and equipment. Organizes, coordinates, and directs work activities and personnel. Checks for compliance with instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Provides information to management on status and progress of work. Schedules and approves leave. Counsels employees on problems and resolves informal complaints. Pulls stock and processes shipping estimate documents.

Requirements

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 pounds in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Forklift license within 180 days of employment.
  • The employee assigned to this position may be called in during off duty hours or may be required to remain on duty for an extended period to support exercises or real world contingencies designated by higher authority.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler (Forklift Operator) Supervisor without more than normal supervision to include 1) Performing supervisory responsibilities such as organizing assignments for subordinates, estimating material and manpower needed for specific jobs, explaining manuals and work procedures, preparing production records, work records, and reports, and approving leave requests, timekeeping records, and other personnel actions; 2) Utilizing automated supply systems and resources such as Global Combat Support System - Army (GCSS-Army), Fed log, and Supply Discrepancy Report (SDR); 3) Communicating general supervisory concepts; and 4) Operating and maintaining forklifts. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two point on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Incumbent may be required to operate electric, gasoline, propane, or diesel powered forklift trucks capable of lifting loads weighing up to 4,500 kilograms (10,000 pounds) or more and may be higher than 420 centimeters (168 inches). Working Conditions: Work may require driving forklift trucks over rough, muddy terrain, through narrow aisles in outside storage areas. Operators may drive inside or outside areas over level surfaces. Incumbent may be exposed to all kinds of weather and is exposed to dust and dirt. Utilizes safety practices and procedures, follows established safety rules and regulations applicable to the trade. Maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing.
