Duties

As a SECURITY SPECIALIST at the GS-0080-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Manage Insider Threat case assessment actions, provides administrative oversight, coordination, and Insider Threat analysis. Lead and coordinate teams and projects in collecting, reviewing, interpreting, and analysis of employee related data identifying behavior potentially indicative of an Insider Threat. Collect, review, interpret, correlate, and analyze employee (i.e. military, civilian, and contractors) related data to identify behavior potentially indicative of an Insider Threat to national security information, operations, facilities, or command's resources. Research and interpret federal laws and regulations, policies, and procedures to advise on the intent and application of concepts and principles to individual situations in Insider Threat Program. Provide oversight, coordination, and management of security and Counterintelligence (CI) activities to include: security assessments, CI inquires, and computer activity analysis in an integrated manner to successfully identify and neutralize the Insider Threat. Work jointly with external organizations to develop and obtain information to support analysis of behaviors for the Insider Threat assessments. Maintains close working relationship with the DOD Insider Threat Management and Analysis Center (DITMAC). Develop, prepare, and present analytic assessments of identified anomalies' behaviors in support of the Threat Assessment Team (TAT).

  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification, and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of established entrance on duty.
  • Travel and relocation expenses, if approved, will be paid IAW JTR and AFMAN 36-606
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Managing Insider Threat case assessment actions, providing administrative oversight, coordination, and Insider Threat analysis. Leading and coordinating teams and projects in collecting, reviewing, interpreting, and analysis of employee related data identifying behavior potentially indicative of an Insider Threat. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
