About the Position: Serves as the primary project field office employee responsible for assisting the Area Engineer and staff with office administration. Performs work in the areas of: office automation, purchasing, property control, personnel actions, data process, reporting, Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFMS) data input and other office operations. Work is performed in support of navigational field operations within the Missouri River Basin.

Duties

Provides advice and assistance to project staff in the resolving of a variety of administrative problems requiring the application of the various guidelines and coordination with the responsible functional staff office at the District Office. Compiles and maintains information and statistical data to prepare various recurring and non-recurring reports on navigational, operational and administrative matters. Schedules occupational health physical examinations and processes paperwork. Handles personnel paperwork and financial payroll demands. Processes project TDY orders. Researches travel modes and accommodations, performs cost analysis and recommends most efficient method of travel, makes appropriate arrangements. Projects and estimates fiscal year allocations of contractual and non-contractual commitments and obligations and creates appropriate automated purchase request method in CEFMS. Acts as ordering officer and VISA cardholder to purchase supplies or services under authorized dollar threshold or as an Authorized Receiving Official. Prepares annual purchase requests for field maintenance contractual services (such as electric, telephone service, garbage pick up, water, mowing and maintenance and janitorial). Receives and relays navigational data via radio, telephone, and computer system linked to other river installations, and the District office regarding precipitation, river stages, gauge readings and other appropriate data. Operates a telephone and or Marine Band radio to communicate with boat traffic regarding time arrivals and other requests and relays to telephone callers.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative support functions using office automation software (word processing, spreadsheets and financial databases) to retrieve, update, review and store electronic data and/or to prepare, edit and format documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted
